“Poor Bartimaeus. His eyes were sick,” is the beginning of a children’s Bible story about a blind man Jesus healed. I read it often to my daughters years ago when they were little. We all had great sympathy for Bartimaeus missing out on all the color and beauty in the world. Blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the road begging when he heard Jesus was passing by. He began shouting, “Jesus son of David have mercy on me,” and couldn’t be persuaded to stop calling out. When he was told Jesus was asking for him, he jumped up and went right to Jesus who healed him. He was healed because of his faith and began to follow Jesus along the road. When we are healed from the blindness of sin we should copy the example of Bartimaeus and become faithful followers of Jesus, keeping our eyes on Him.
So they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere,
